In 1967...

During the home buying process, we had hoped to find a home with a bit of character.  This was a hard feat considering the suburbs doesn't have much to offer.

What we did find, which I love even more, is a home that I could consider as a mini-me to my parents house.  In fact, both my parent's house and ours was built in the same year - 1967.  And...the layout is identical.  Like, literally, identical.  The only difference is that their home is bigger by 500+ sq. feet.

It's like we were meant to be!  Identical = twins!  And hey!  I'm a twin!  Hahaha...  I always hoped to have my future children live in or get to know their grandparents house.  Now, we got the next best thing!

So where am I getting to?  After a quick google search, we found the original information sheet on our home and the original layout.

Fun, huh?!  So with the layout so easily accessible, I thought I would use this as a template to help me design!  Good idea, right!?  I get myself so excited.

I didn't know where to start...so I did what any normal person would do (hahaha), I used Paint.  And it took about 2 minutes for me to realize that this looked foolish.
You laughed, didn't you?  I knew there had to be a better way.  So I went to my favorite blog, YHL, and I knew they would have the answer.  Ahh...Floorplanner!  Unfortunately, it only gives you one project for free, then they make you pay.  In any case, I'm going to play around with it and I'll show you the results!

Until next time!!!

xoxo,
